The research centre

Established in 2007, the research centre for Midwifery Science is a motivated group of researchers in the area of physiological midwifery, health promotion and public health, epidemiology, methodology and statistics, health policy, and the organization of care.

The research centre is directed by Marianne Nieuwenhuijze, professor of Midwifery.

Our primary mission is to enhance the strategic goals of Academie Verloskunde Maastricht (Zuyd) by contributing to the quality of midwifery education and to the expansion of midwifery knowledge. Our department has initiated several research projects and participates in and supports a host of external research projects. Currently, seven PhD projects are underway within the department.
